Summary:
Includes exterior and interior views of Little Traverse Hospital in
Petoskey (Mich.), designed by architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.
Exterior views include the hospital's main facade, showing the original brick
building and a new brick-and- limestone wing. The L-shaped addition continues
the low profile of the existing building, but--in contrast to the older
facade-- features window walls, ribbon windows, and pilotis that raise the
addition above a driveway. One view shows patients and a nurse on a roof deck.
Interior views include a room with wall-mounted sink and closet, a corridor
showing extent of ribbon windows, with a nurse at her station at the far end,
and a wood-tiled lounge area with a nurse and wheelchair-bound patient. Other
interiors show a waiting room, a room of empty cribs, a room with hospital bed
and view through picture window into woods, and a doctor's office with medical
