Summary: Includes exterior and interior views of the Inland Steel building at 30 West Monroe Street in Chicago (Ill.). Exteriors include views that show the stainless-steel-and-glass office tower next to the taller, windowless service core, in a context of older, traditional high- rise buildings (including the neighboring Majestic building). Other views highlight the external columns along the Dearborn Street facade, the prominent mullions, and the juxtaposition of cantilevered office tower and recessed lobby. Exterior views include the office building-service core arrangement as seen from the rear, with window-washing equipment visible. Interior views include the lobby, with a spindly starburst sculpture and luminous ceiling, a lunchroom, and reception area with lounge seating and planters.
Other interiors show a boardroom, executive offices, and an open- plan office with private offices, behind translucent partitions, along the glass-walled perimeter. Interiors also include a wood- paneled reception area and office corridor with stainless-steel trim, an elevator lobby with luminous ceiling, and the glass- walled reception area for the advertising, public relations, medical, and personnel departments. Interior views also show a glass-walled office with several women at work, a receptionist at her desk, and the steel detailing on double doors between offices. Other interiors include a coatroom, an empty, column- free office space, pipes in the boiler room, and an executive dining room. Employees are present in most of the interior views.
