Summary: Views
of the Chicago Civic Center from 1962 through 1969, including architectural
models, floor plans, views of construction, and the competed building. Designed
by Chicago Civic Center Architects, a consortium of three architectural firms:
C.F. Murphy Associates; Loebl, Schlossman & Bennett; and SOM. Photographed
by Bill C. Hedrich, Bill S. Engdahl, Giovanni Suter, Hube Henry, Jim W.
Hedrich, and Bob H. Harr of Hedrich-Blessing studios for Chicago Civic Center
Architects, U.S. Steel Corporation, and Luminous Ceilings, Inc. Interior views
include elevator lobby, courtrooms, furniture, hallways, and offices. Also
included are various views of the plaza around the building showing Christmas
tree, sculpture by Picasso, and fountains and landscaping treatments. Renamed
Richard J. Daley Center after Mayor Daley's death in 1976.
