Description of the Collection

Images of Chicago buildings, parks, statues, fountains, streets and a few events

by Chicago commercial photographers Kaufmann & Fabry. Buildings include the

Coliseum, the Hamilton Club, Masonic Temple, the Field Museum, the Museum of

Science & Industry, the Palmolive Building, the Blackstone and Selwyn theaters,

Union Station and the Wrigley BLuilding. Hotels include the Bismarck, the Drake,

the Palmer House, the Stevens Hotel, and residential hotels -- the Broadmoor, the

Carolan, the Oak Park Arms, the Sheridan Surf, and the Sisson. Includes a few

interiors of the Palmer House and the Stevens Hotel. Parks include Jackson Park,

Lincoln Park, Washington Park and Evergreen Park & Golf Club. Streets include

Lake Shore Drive, LaSalle Street, Michigan Avenue and State Street. Events

include the Eucharistic Congress (1926) and the Barber & Beauty Shop Suppliers

and the Food & Housewares trade exhibitions (1927-1928) and the National

Association of Garment Manufacturers meeting (1929). Of particular interest is

a few views of an incandescent light exhibition (1929) and aerial photographs of

the vicinity of 7900 South Western Avenue (1926).
