Summary description of the collection:
Primarily
views of Chicago dwellings and monuments. Dwellings are generally large homes
on the Near North Side or mid-North Side, including the homes of wealthy
Chicago families such as the McCormicks and the Nickersons. Includes a few mid-19th
century log houses in suburban Evanston and Kenilworth. Monuments and
memorials include statues in Lincoln Park, monuments to Marquette and Joliet,
Indian trail trees in outlying areas and a few statues in Boston. Also contains
a series of interior and exterior views of Gunther's Libby Prison War Museum in
Chicago, which specialized in Civil War, Revolutionary War, and Mexican War
items, a weather kiosk, a few Chicago street scenes, scenes of University of
Chicago, and three views of the Wisconsin Dells.
