Description of the Collection

Visual materials relating to Navy Pier (formerly Municipal Pier) and the career

of Sol Bernstein, Head Clerk of the Harbormaster's Office at Navy Pier. Includes

an album entitled Harbor & Subway Commission, containing progress photographs of

the construction of the pier, 1914-1915. Prints & photographs show exterior and

interior views. Interior primarily show an exhibition of machinery and tools

(1926?) and a few scenes of offices and facilities. A few photographs show

people involved with the pier, such as Sol Bernstein, Babs McCall and Bill Lynch.
