Biographical sketch:

Raymond W. Trowbridge came to Chicago in 1908 and practiced as an architect until 1923. After suffering from poor health, he turned to photography and made commissions for both architectural firms and private clients. He documented the interiors and exteriors of hundreds of Chicago's buildings. He died at the age of fifty in 1936.

Description of the collection:

Black-and-white nitrate negatives photographed by Raymond W. Trowbridge depict interior and exterior views of Chicago’s built environment, primarily images of private clients’ residential homes. Also includes commissioned portraits and a self-portrait of Trowbridge, sites around Chicago, the University of Chicago campus, Brookfield Zoo, and Michigan.
