Summary:

Includes photographs of Chicago residents who were interviewed and photographed as participants in the national documentary project named: Indivisible--an exploration of community life and action in America. Collection shows activists from organizations including the Community Justice Initiative, Greater Lawn Community Youth Network, Latino Organization of the Southwest, Prison Action Committee, Southwest Youth Collaborative, and West Englewood Youth and Teen Center. Includes 20 silver gelatin photoprints by Dawoud Bey.

The Chicago Historical Society is the official Chicago-area repository for the section of the Indivisible Project book and exhibit, "Indivisible: Stories of American Community," that explored the Southwest Youth Collaborative, which serves West Englewood, Chicago Lawn, Gage Park, West Lawn, and Elsdon in Chicago. Dawoud Bey is a Chicago-based photographer.
