Historical note:
The Fashion
Group of Chicago was a local chapter of the international non-profit
organization The Fashion Group, which sought to promote high-end fashion and
provide educational opportunities and resources for individuals interested in
the fashion industry. The Fashion Group held seminars, fashion shows, and other
events.

records, correspondence, financial material, reports, brochures, invitations, newspaper
and magazine articles, photographs, and other records of The Fashion Group of
Chicago, a local chapter of the international non-profit organization, The
Fashion Group. Most materials relate to fashion shows, seminars, and other
events hosted by the organization, including programs, advertisements, and
press releases. The Fashion Group sought to promote high-end fashion and
provide educational opportunities and resources for individuals interested in
the fashion industry.

Series 1. Administrative records, 1948-1985
(box 1-5)
Series 1
consists of directories, manuals, financial records, meeting minutes, memos,
biographies, and other administrative files of The Fashion Group of Chicago.
Most of the material relates to membership and officer elections. Financial
records include budget reports and annual reports. Memos are largely from
presidents regarding council meetings, reminders, and meeting minutes.
Series 2. Correspondence, 1951-1987 (box 5-6)
Series 2
contains correspondence regarding events, membership, and publicity.
Correspondents include members and officers of The Fashion Group of Chicago,
make-up artists, fashion magazines, and Chicago department stores such as
Marshal Fields, Saks Fifth Avenue, and the Merchandise Mart.
Series 3. Event material, 1953-1986 (box
6-9)
Series 5
contains schedules, speech abstracts, press releases, brochures, invitations,
advertisements, and other materials regarding events hosted by The Fashion
Group of Chicago. Materials provide information on event speakers and themes. A
