Biographical/historical
note:
The Jewish Council on Urban Affairs
(JCUA) is a Jewish organization committed to addressing Chicago's urban
problems, such as homelessness, joblessness, and racial tension and discrimination.
Through its vision of empowering communities from within, JCUA
also pursues social and economic justice for Chicago's most vulnerable
neighborhoods. Founded in 1964, JCUA has assisted groups in low-income communities,
built coalitions with diverse groups, advocated on issues of poverty and racism
and mobilized a Jewish constituency. As of 2014, JCUA offices were in the Loop
community area.

clippings, bulletins, reports, staff records, topical files, planning files,
accounting documents, meeting minutes, and other office files of the Jewish
Council on Urban Affairs (JCUA), about its own operations, its relations with
other organizations, and topical files on urban problems. JCUA, founded in
1964, is a Jewish organization working to address Chicago's urban problems,
such as homelessness, joblessness, and racial tension and discrimination. The
collection includes materials by JCUA leaders Rabbi Robert Marx, Lew Kreinberg,
and Jane Ramsey.
